The Lost City
of ATLANTIS
A special report on the
mythological city, researched by Daniel Parsons & written by
Khalada Choudhury
| It was a beautiful
land, inhabited by a seafaring civilization, with
advanced engineering, monumental architecture and a
glittering capital city. But it was too perfect to last.
As the people became
materialistic and corrupt, the stars shifted around the
heavens and the sun rose from a different angle.
Earthquakes tore apart the ground and volcanic eruptions
spewed forth torrents of lava. All was submerged in a
deluge of water, wiping the land off the world's map for
eternity.
A canadian couple,
Andy and Rose Flem-Ath, in the search for the truth have
gathered evidence from ancient manuscripts, maps and
myths to support their radical quest that the City of
Atlantis did once really exist. Their conclusion is that
since 10,000 BC the remains of the civilization called
Atlantis had been buried beneath the ice of Antarctica.
According to Plato -a
greek philosopher, Atlantis was destroyed by a
cataclysmic disaster around 9600 BC - at least 1000
years before the currently accepted start of the modern
civilization.

| The theory for the
disappearance of the Atlantic city today is considered
by scientists as being the phenomenon called the 'Continental
drift' and 'Plate tectonics'. But the
accepted time scale for such shifting of land masses is
no more than 16 km every million years. Hapgood -an
American academic terrorized some thing more radical. He
believed the earths crust could shift, as one, suddenly
and swiftly, with devastating effects -enough to make it
seem as if entire continents had disappeared.
If there was
such an advanced civilization 10,000 years ago, it is
possible that it foresaw the disaster and made
evacuation plans. Even if it did not, it is still
possible that some people survived, escaping to higher
grounds, above the tidal waves that engulfed their land.
Such high altitude havens include Lake Titicaca in the
central Andes and the highlands os Thailand and Ethiopia
- all the places where the earliest forms of agriculture
spontaneously developed around 9600 BC.

| EGYPTIAN CONNECTION?
The existence of
technology developed civilization before 10,000 BC would
help to explain the ancient monuments around the world.
These achievements will include the cities in south and
central America , build supposedly by the Aztec Mayan
civilizations. Could their achievements have been based
on ancient knowledge passed on by the survivors of
Atlantis? This same theory can be applied to Egypt,
where this ancient civilization may have provided the
technology needed to build these pyramids. Recent
archaeological evidence indicates the Sphinx to be far
older than originally thought, its weather beaten face
results of rain erosion, possibly sustains over 10,000
years ago. How can this be when the Egyptians
civilization was not thought to have begun until after
4000 BC?

Future confirmation of
this Egypt/Atlatis connection lies in the layout of the
pyramids. Scientists have discovered that the pattern
duplicates that of the part of the Orion star group- not
as it is today, but as it was in 10,450 BC. The stars
appear to move from year to year because the earth does
not rotate evenly, but wobbles slightly on its axis. In
fact, the stars move in a cycle that takes 2,600 years
